Biomaterials
GEENMat works also on the development of advanced materials for nanoscale applications in biology and drug delivery. In particular, it is focused on the following types of systems: i) carbon nanotubes (SWCNT, MWCNT) functionalized with organic groups as potential carriers for drug delivery; ii) gold nanoparticles functionalized with antibodies, iii) nanoparticles of iron oxide, as such or in core-shell structure with silica or biocompatible polymers encapsulating various types of drugs; iv) bioglass film deposited on 3D scaffolds of Titanium for applications in the field of tissue engineering; v) thin films of biocompatible polymers based on PEG electrodeposited on Ti scaffolds for study of biocompatibility and cell adhesion.
